According to the Vedic Scriptures, the Shankha / Sankh ( Shell ) is one of the most auspicious objects that emerged from the sea during the Ksheera Sagara samudra manthan. Hence it is regarded as the brother of Goddess Lakshmi, the ruler of wealth.
